Interview with Marc Pijoan on BUFF’s Brand Space at ISPO Munich 2022

At ISPO Munich 2022, the outdoor specialist BUFF perfectly showcased its new 2023/24 collection as well as its brand core „Sustainability“. Meplan fully managed the brand appearance – from the concept to the implementation. In the interview, Marc Pijoan, EU Marketing Manager for BUFF, describes the design process and the collaborative work with meplan.

In the middle of Hall B1 of ISPO, where exhibitors from the sports fashion sector are located, stands the BUFF booth. For the third year of the fair, the basic design of the stand, which is characterized by its rounded exterior walls, was used for the realization of the brand space. Already at the original conception of BUFF’s trade fair appearance, durability and thus sustainability were in the forefront. This is also emphasized by BUFF’s EU Marketing Manager, Marc Pijoan: „Sustainability is key for us, it is a major issue for us and has been anchored in our DNA for many, many years.“ Therefore, meplan set out to develop a visionary brand space that not only reflects the brand and its values but also remains contemporary over many years.

Until 2018, the design guidelines were primarily provided by BUFF with clear design directives. With the planning for ISPO 2018, BUFF’s officials reversed the process and invited to a design pitch. With various approaches, meplan presented the concept. The version that focused mainly on the logo and the shape of BUFF products convinced the customer.

This laid the foundation for a partnership and successful collaboration that still exists after several years. Meeting these requirements was the basis for a successful collaboration for the customer. „It was really good for us, because the best thing I want to highlight is the consultation we receive from meplan. They are, so to speak, our eyes and hands when we exhibit at ISPO. That’s why it’s very easy for us to work in this way, because if we have a question or don’t know how to solve something, we can clarify everything very quickly with meplan,“ adds Marc Pijoan.
